Project Details:
The Prince of Wales Hospital project in Merthyr Tydfil is a significant healthcare infrastructure scheme being delivered for Darlow Lloyd Construction Ltd. The project includes the construction of new access roads and six car parks, designed to improve accessibility across the hospital site and help alleviate existing congestion for patients, staff and visitors.
Our surfacing works cover approximately 15,000 square metres of new access roads and associated areas. The road construction incorporates a three-layer asphalt system, comprising an asphalt base course, binder course and surface course. This specification provides a strong, durable and hard-wearing surface capable of accommodating regular traffic and the demands of a busy hospital environment.
The new access infrastructure will improve traffic flow around the hospital, providing clearer and more efficient routes for vehicles while increasing available parking capacity through the construction of six new car parks. Given the operational requirements of a live healthcare environment, careful coordination and sequencing of the works are essential to minimise disruption to hospital users and maintain safe access throughout the project.
The project is currently ongoing, with surfacing works progressing in line with the wider construction programme.
